CityVille Tips From A Level 60 Player
With the astounding popularity of CityVille players are combing the internet for tips on how to build their cities and move to higher levels. So I thought I’d ask a pro how she does it. I contacted my CityVille neighbor Trish C., who runs Doofusville. Trish has achieved level 60 and the high reputation level of 48 hearts, making her a neighbor extraordinaire. Trish was kind enough to share some of her strategies and observations about CityVille.
Q: When did you start playing CityVille
Trish: I honestly think I was one of the first to try the game out. I have close to 2,000 Facebook gamer friends and not a single one was playing for almost the entire first day.

Q: How long did it take you to reach level 60?
Trish: I’m disabled and I can play longer each day than a lot of people, but I think it took me about 2 weeks to hit level 60.

Q: Did you have a specific strategy starting out? Or did you develop one along the way?
Trish: Not having other neighbors playing I couldn’t add franchises at first so I planted a lot of strawberries. The lower levels are so much easier because when you level up you get a refill of energy. Now, being at level 60 for over a week, it all has to come from neighbors and the slow increase over time. I try my best to send out at least 40+ top energy gifts a day. And most people will send a 3+ back. But the 1+ are always welcome too.

Q: You have such a well-designed city. Did you have an initial plan for the layout and do you often redesign the city?
Trish: The territory that I have added lately is going more to spreading out some buildings and getting a chance to landscape a little more. I have almost 18,000 goods in storage and that is enough for two days of play and restocking my franchises. Any extra that I need I usually try to help my neighbors by harvesting their crops. Lots of time it’s a battle not to have crops wither. I always keep strawberries planted for that reason–they don’t wither.

I usually hide flowers behind the buildings now and add shade trees. I’m not a big fan of the round flower gardens though, lol. I don’t do much with the shipping part of the game, but I plan on utilizing it more now that the city is running pretty smooth.
Q: Do you enjoy certain aspects of the game more than others?
Trish: I love my neighbors and seeing their city’s grow and the way they decorate. I’ve “borrowed” a few design tips from my neighbors along the way too.

Q: Do you have any advice for other players?
Trish: If several neighbors harvest the same fields, this is one point players should use — let the first person harvest, then go in and plant before you let the next person harvest. That way the second, third and forth, etc. all cut time off of the crop you replanted. And in the case of strawberries, when you plant the next person will automatically ripen them or you can wait five minutes and let that next person harvest for you.

Word of wisdom: Use your WISH LIST feature. Gift the max every day and always repay gifts when you can. And keep your franchises supplied!!!
If your inventory is close to maxing out at the 2000 limit, or just cluttered, just leave your collections alone and only redeem them when you know you are ready for them. Why have 35 billboards sitting in your inventory?
Q: Are there changes/improvements you would like to see?
Trish: I talk to Zynga online support almost every other day. I’ve had boats running around my streets instead of people and the horrible “re-connecting to server” issue. Recently there was an issue (that has since been resolved) with the gift feed not allowing users to accept anything after the 25th gift. There was a workaround using the Facebook feed (instead of the Zynga message center). When I talk with Customer Service about a problem that affects game play I always try to post the solution on my Facebook status so that others can benefit to.
I have the maximum number of neighbor franchises in Doofusville so I can’t add anymore right now. I don’t particularly like the bonus limits that Zynga has set. If I can visit 75 or more neighbors why shouldn’t I be able to get a bonus for each of them? Plus it takes a large amount of energy to keep a large city in motion compared to a smaller city. I have a range of neighbors; from quaint little lake towns to major real estate moguls. It’s fun to see the growth variety as I get to visit them. I try to visit every neighbor at least every other day.
I would love to see one change most of all in the game: when you re-send a 3+ energy gift it should send a 3+ back to the original gifter and not a 1+. That’s just not cool. I told Zynga that it made us look cheap!
I would also like to:
– be able to self-clean our inventory of unwanted items ( THIS HAS BEEN DONE!!!)
– a way to collect from all ready community buildings with a single click
– a way to delete users who started and then dropped out of the game. Currently the only way is to provide Zynga with each person’s FaceBook ID#. That’s too much trouble when it’s something Zynga could clean up easily with a little coding.
– when you get the notification that one of your franchises needs to be re-supplied, it should take you to the one that triggered the icon, instead of having to hunt through all your franchises for the one that needs more inventory.

Q: Before CityVille did you play other Zynga games? If so, did that give you an advantage starting Cityville?
Trish: I am a loyal Zynga-nite. I started with Farmville and then Mafia Wars and Treasure Isle and went on to add Frontierville and now Cityville. But most of fun is now in Cityville and Mafia Wars.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?
Trish: If anyone would like to add me on Facebook, please send request and put CITYVILLE in your message. My link is: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1801825982. Thank you for liking Doofusville. It’s fun and entertaining for me and I really enjoy it.
